I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
In the night also my heart instructs me.
I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Psalm 16:7-8* (ESV)
“I have set the LORD always before me…”
Practicing and cherishing God’s presence requires discipline,
practice and intentionality. What can you do today to practice His
presence? Try using everyday moments and experiences to remind
yourself that God is with you…
Always…
As you continue to pursue a heart that is soft and open to His
promptings and leadings today, use this Psalm to center your
thoughts and to remind yourself that the LORD is always with you,
day and night. He is speaking, guiding and giving you counsel
through His word and His Holy Spirit. Respond in thanks to the
stability that He gives to your life!
He counsels…He instructs…
“I shall not be shaken…”
* Delight in God’s Constant Presence. God’s presence, in which
the psalmist delights, is seen in the moral instruction he receives,
and it results in his assurance of stability. The psalmist’s heart
instructs him during the night, a result of deliberate reflection.
To “set the LORD always before me” expresses intention.
